A name is an abstract concept; within a few letters, it represents and defines one's physical, mental, and conceptual status. The name itself is non-materialized but exists as a social promise and is used for communications. It might be easy to name it, but the weight of the name is non-neglectably heavy as it's intertwined and actively interacts with others. It can be written or called by voice but this time it would be called through the "wave", sound wave, and visual wave.
This interactive device lets users can play with knobs on the device and watch how the bulb graphics on the screen respond and users can try to create their wave by matching each bulb based on their name. The complexity of controlling the knob let users to indirectly getting message about the weight of their name. Also by enjoying the physicality of the knob play itself, user can feel freedom from the limitations which are tied to the written words and become released and starts to create numerous joyful potentials.
The ellipses, as bulbs, are set on the 25x26 (width x height) grid following alphabetical order from top to bottom and there are 5 points that potentiometers can control that controls each of 5 groups of columns. They move as the y positions move and the alignment of the bulb light graphics creates the wave shape and the harmonic tone by adjusting frequency, reverb and amp.
